A DAY IN THE JULIAN ALPS
Our one splurge this trip was hiring a private guide,
recommended by Rick Steves, to take us on a day trip through the Julian Alps.
Our guide, Gorazd, told us he did the same tour yesterday, and it rained all
day in the mountains. We were very lucky to go today. I will let the pictures tell
the story.
WW I graveyard. These Alps were the site of many battles |
look closely for the rungs-there is a cave at the bottom, and the soldiers used the rungs to get up to the top of the mountain at great peril from snipers across the way |
