MILLIONS OF FLOWERS!
We have a list of day trips we want to take while we
are here. It is overcast this morning so we have decided to go to Keukenhof
Gardens to see the tulips. We took the train to Leiden, bought our tickets at
the TI, then took a 25 minute bus ride to Keukenhof. There were lots of tour
buses with lots of tourists. I was amazed at the beauty and number of flowers
blooming (unlike last year in Holland MI). The pictures will tell the story.
After wandering through the gardens for several hours
we were ready to leave but wanted to see if we could walk out to some of the fields
where the rows of color were. One of the park employees told us to rent a bike,
so we decided to give it a try. The bikes were 10 Euro each and didn’t have to
be returned until 1900. They had several different routes that could be taken.
I asked which one had the most flowers and was told, “The longest one.” With
the map in hand we headed out for the 14 mile loop to the North Sea around the
flower fields. It was great fun!
