43 YEARS!!

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY TO US!! It’s hard to believe we have spent 2/3 of our lives together! It’s been a roller coaster, but one I would ride over and over!
The original plan today was to go to Wittenberg, the town where Martin Luther started his reformation. It turns out Europe takes time out to celebrate May Day so all stores were closed. We didn’t want to take the time and spend the money to go to Wittenberg if everything was going to be closed, so we took the train to Potsdam, an area where Friedrich the Great built numerous palaces and lived the life of luxury in the 1700’s. It was a fun little town to walk around and explore.

BRIDGE OF SPYS

We got back from Potsdam in the mid afternoon, took a little break in the hotel room, then headed out to do the Communist East Berlin Walk which took us to another large section of the wall that has had various artists paint murals on each section. What we weren’t expecting was the throng of young adults who were taking pleasure in the May Day celebration. There were thousands of empty beer bottles and their accompanying caps strewn all over everywhere!! It was quite a party.
