LESSONS IN HISTORY
We woke up to a beautiful sunny day around 0800 and headed out around 0900, stopping at the bakery for a yummy apple streudel. A quick ride on the U2 subway took us back to the Brandenburg Gate area. With Rick Steves book in hand we followed his Reichstag and Brandenburg Gate Walk, the Kreuzberg Walk which took us around the Turkish neighborhood with its Tuesday market, and the Old Jewish Quarter Walk. Afterwards we returned to our room, took a short nap, then did the Facism and Cold War Walk which took us to Checkpoint Charlie and a part of the Berlin Wall Memorial. in the evening. When we got back we walked down one of the main streets and found a different restaurant where we both got schnitzel. It was delicious!
